The 24 Hours of Daytona, also known as the Rolex 24 At Daytona for sponsorship reasons, is a 24-hour sports car endurance race held annually at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Contrary to belief, the Le Mans 24 Hours isn’t about going as fast as possible for a full day. For around three hours and 15 minutes or so, it’s all about stopping as quickly as possible.
The first Le Mans race was held between May 26 and 27, 1923, and rules were simple: whoever clocked the most miles during the 24-hour period won. The high-stakes endurance-testing competition quickly became a yearly race, and a prestigious affair for automobile companies to show off their latest innovations.
