I too, have this issue. Yeah, same problem here. For about 4 days now, every time we start a show, the app just hangs and I have to restart Apple TV. Thanks! I'm glad it's not just me. If I see something on li ne that addresses this, I'll post the article here. I don’t have that problem with HBOMax on my AppleTV 4K.

Inorder for Apple TV 4K to automatically set your display format to HDR10, HDR10+ or Dolby Vision, your TV must be able to display HDR10, HDR10+ or Dolby Vision at 60Hz (50Hz in Europe).
